Road Accidents in 2021 Decrease by 18%

PHNOM PENH: In the first eleven months of this year, Cambodia has seen the number of road accidents decrease by 18% compared to the same period in 2020. Such difference stands for 533 less accidents in 2021. The difference is even higher comparing accidents with injuries.

According to the new report released on Monday by the National Road Safety Committee, last year had 162 more deaths than this year, a decrease of 11% in 2021.

Such difference is even bigger when the accidents have caused injuries. The cases of traffic accidents with no deaths have decreased 26%, around 1,120 less cases comparing to 2020.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and President of the National Road Safety Committee, Samdech Kralahom Sar Kheng has congratulated the work of officials responsible for enforcing the law and the hardships of ensuring the decrease of road accidents.

The Deputy Minister has also reminded all citizens to keep following and respecting traffic laws, safeguarding themselves and others driving along the road.
